Relativity

I had a discussion with a friend of mine as to what is considered normal. For some people in some cultures, say being in a plural marriage is normal while here in the US it is not considered the norm and goes against our social mores and whatnot. I like to think I am open-minded but this forum I usually post on: www.omanforum.com a member told me I am not as open minded as I would like to think I am. True. But I would hope I can always learn from others different than myself. I always want to root for the underdog, get their side of the story etc.......

Memoirs

I am just starting to post and will probably feel more comfortable once I am used to this. I have read some interesting blogs from women who are of Arab descent and am intrigued. I visited the Middle East last year and was grateful to have had the opportunity to visit that part of the world. Arabs and Muslims are so misunderstood in today's world. The media seems to only focus on the negativity and not the positives of this area of the world and the people. But I guess that is what sells for ratings these days.

I think that in today's society with the advent of globalization and rush of technology the world has indeed become a smaller place. I think it is our responsibility to try and make it a better place, socially, economically, politically and of course, caring for the environment.
