One thing about working for the feds.......(oh how I do love to spread their everlasting glory) concerns the pay increases each year. (Errrr what pay increase?)
Usually we get one at the beginning of the year when Congress approves the increase. However what I have found I don't see any significant adjustments since our health insurance premiums go up alongside with the raise.
We receive a step increase every year until we reach I believe it is Step 5 and then is every 2 years. I am receiving my Step 4 increase this July and is sorely needed due to the wedding, economy and gas.
Q: What are within-grade increases or step increases?
A: Within-grade increases (WGIs) or step increases are periodic increases in a General Schedule (GS) employee's rate of basic pay from one step of the grade of his or her position to the next higher step of that grade. For WGI purposes, an employee's rate of basic pay is the rate of pay fixed by law or administrative action for the position held by the employee before any deductions and exclusive of additional pay of any kind.
BTW...not singing Prez Bush just like the banner.
