The Essence Of Memorial Day.........................

The National Moment of Remembrance, formally established by Congress in 2000 in Public Law 106-579, asks Americans wherever they are at 3 p.m., local time, on Memorial Day to pause in an act of national unity.

Memorial Day was created as a day of remembrance for those who were killed in service to our Nation throughout history.
A Gallup Poll revealed only 28% of Americans know the meaning of this holiday, and most view it as a "day off" rather than a day to connect with our Nation’s history and values.

The Moment was not created to replace traditional Memorial Day events, but as an act of national unity to honor our fallen. In this shared remembrance, we connect as Americans.
